Frequently Asked Questions

  • The rebuild or reinstatement value is the amount it would cost if your property was destroyed beyond repair and had to be completely rebuilt from the ground up. This includes any building materials and labour to fully reinstate the property.

The rebuild value takes into account the size, age and construction of the property and is usually lower than the market value, but it can be higher. It is important that the value provided covers the full cost of rebuilding the property. If you are unsure, you can ask your mortgage lender or a qualified surveyor for help.

Alternatively, the Association of British Insurers (ABI) provides information regarding reinstatement values, including an online calculator which can be found at ABI Calculator.
